This Thanksgiving weekend will see four to six Quirky B's on display at the Expressions of Art Show in Carp, ON, Saturday and Sunday until 4:00 p.m. each day.
The venue is at the Carp Fair Grounds in the Agricultural Hall.
The Vernissage is Friday evening, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Please come if you can.
There are a couple of things about this show that set it apart from the numerous shows I've attended since May. One is that they have a section for Emerging Artists and I think that this is wonderfully accommodating of the West Carleton Arts Society and beneficial to artists breaking onto the scene.Emerging Artists have a spot all to themselves and do not have to pay to participate in the show, an $80 savings.
Another thing is the sense of humour that is present. Artists are asked to fashion and wear fish-shaped name tags in celebration of the eponymous poisson for which the town may have been named. Additionally, there is a friendly contest for artists to see whose rendition of Carp-The Fish, will catch attendees' eyes. The winner will get free entry into next year's show.
See you there, Shannon Lee
