Preparing the Etchings

It is surprising that these etchings from 41 years ago are in as good shape as they are. Only the black wooden frame on one has two corners that  look as if they'd been nibbled by a mouse.

Today, I applied some wood fill which I will sand and paint once it is dry.

As for the water-damaged mats, the damage is on the back of the mats so I may forgo changing them. However, both mats were cut the same size although the actual etchings are dissimilar in size. You can see that the one on the left has a two inch space under the signature. I am uncertain what to do about this. Perhaps have another mat cut. Maybe have two cut as the colour should match.
