I Answered the Call

This is the call that went out yesterday on Ottawa's arts listserv, Artengine.

Original Art for the H’art
The H’art of Ottawa, a workshop in the Bronson Centre for artists with disabilities, needs supplies. If you know H’art, you know how vibrant its paintings are, and how gentle. To help the studio out, an art sale and silent auction will be held Saturday, September 28 at the Orange Hall, 41 Rosemount Ave. in Hintonburg. Doors open sharp at 10am. The sale goes to 3 pm, the silent auction until 2 pm.

The sale features 150 - 160 paintings by artists from North America, Europe and Asia. Eighty percent are original oils, watercolours and mixed media, 15 percent are lithographs and limited-edition prints with the rest being reproductions. The silent auction includes high-quality works by Ottawa artists Chris Griffin, Patrick Mills, Andrew King and John Ceprano, with at least one other coming soon.

Although this event is for charity, there’s a twist. Good art shouldn’t break the bank so prices (not for the auction) will run from $10 to $100 to give people a chance to add to their collection or to start one. For first-timers it’s a chance to get a great piece of original art for the price of a few drinks at the pub. All pieces are framed and ready to hang, although some have a few dings. This isn’t a gallery show (at gallery prices) after all. All reproductions are $5, and that includes Klimt and Modigliani, although some aren’t framed.

I thought I'd be in mighty find company if I donated a guitar case for the silent auction.
I ran this classical/acoustic case over to Mke today.
There's a reserve bid of $200 on it.

One of the GUITARABESQUE SUITE.
All the while, large plastic bags and guitar cases
continue to dry out from the weekend's show.
