Papier mache applied to aluminum dish below and drier switched on to speed up process.
Four hours later, newspaper is dry and it won't come up from the glass and then subsequently, the hardened half-ball won't separate from the aluminum shape. Total failure.
But late-afternoon, discovered a more realistic shape and will be experimenting shortly.

Developed this shape. It's not perfect but it's starting to come together.
