Custom Guitar Show in June

This just in from Mike Sankey, custom guitar builder. The show is scheduled for June 29/14 at the Glebe Community Centre. seems like it might be a good spot for me to be with 10 to 15 guitar cases. Just to fly the flag and let people know that there are alternatives to basic black.

Guess I'll have to get a card made.

Hello everyone,

If you are receiving this email it is because you have expressed an interest in exhibiting at the 2014 Ottawa Guitar Show. I am pleased to announce that we are ready to go ahead.

The show will take place on Sunday, June 29th, in the Glebe Community Centre, 175 Third Avenue, in Ottawa. We will be open to the public from 10am until 5pm. Exhibitors will have access from 8am until 7pm, to allow plenty of time to set up and tear down.

Each exhibitor will have one table (approximately 6’ by 2’, linens provided) and 2 chairs in the main room (Scotton Hall) of the Centre. Exhibitors are responsible for manning their own table. Each table is intended to represent one exhibitor and one assistant only. If you wish to bring an amplifier for your table, headphones must used at all times. There will be 3 soundproof booths in the main hall to allow prospective clients the opportunity to try instruments. Exhibitors will also be able to use the Meeting Room on the entrance level for storage and as a break room.

Exhibitors will have the opportunity to demonstrate their work in our mini-concert series. These will consist of half-hour time slots (20 minutes performance, ten minutes setup/teardown). The main concert room seats approximately 30 people, and will be equipped with a small amplification system and associated microphones etc. We will have a sound technician on hand who will assist, and can provide exhibitors with a raw audio recording free of charge. For an extra fee we should also be able to provide a professionally recorded and edited audio and video package. There are only 12 time slots available here, so anyone who would like to do a demo concert must apply to me with the details of their performance as soon as possible. Priority will be given to those who wish to purchase an audio/video package. I also encourage exhibitors to collaborate on performances, so more of us can do a demo concert.

We will also have the opportunity for more informal performances in the onsite restaurant adjacent to the main hall, called “the Pantry”. This is an intimate space suitable only for acoustic instruments; no amplification will be allowed (or necessary), and any recording would have to be done by the exhibitor. Time slots are limited here as well.

The fee for participation in the Ottawa Guitar Show will be $120. If you need a second table, a small number will available for an extra $80 each. The price for a video package is not finalized yet, but will be under $200. Admission for visitors will be completely free, to ensure that we all get as much public exposure as possible. Parking at the Glebe Community centre is very limited, and should be reserved for short-term use (for example, loading in and out). There is plenty of street parking in the neighbourhood, as well a pay lot 1 block away.

Our website, www.ottawaguitarshow.com, will be updated for this years’ event very soon. A Facebook event page will also be prepared shortly, and will be kept up-to-date with the latest news and developments. We will also have posters and brochures available for distribution 3 weeks before the show.

To register for the Ottawa Guitar Show, please reply to this email or call me at (613) 276-9093.
